Description
SiSR-255A is a hydroxy-functional, low molecular weight methyl phenyl silicone resin intermediate. The hydroxy group imparts good reactivity with other organic resins like alkyds, phenolics, epoxies, acrylics, etc. The condensation reaction is:
=SiOH + HOC= → =Si–O–C= + H2O
The resins modified with SiSR-255A features excellent weather resistance and heat resistance compared with unmodified resins.

Application
• Maintenance, coil coating and architectural finishes based on organic copolymers modified with SiSR-255A resin exhibit good chalk resistance and retain their color and gloss after years of outdoor exposure.
• High-temperature finishes prepared with silicone-organic copolymers and cold blends have excellent gloss and color retention and can be used on space heaters, ovens, incinerators and similar hightemperature appliances.
• Silicone organic blends containing SiSR-255A may also be used in powder coating applications where improved weatherability and heat resistance are required.
