Application
SNY-OTES is a small molecular silane with good penetration. It reacts with substrate(including building material’s pores) moisture or atmospheric moisture to form hydroxyl groups(Hydrolysis reaction), eliminating alcohol. These hydroxyl groups occurs condensation reaction to bind to the substrate and itself, forming a thin hydrophobic layer on surface of substrate. It greatly reduces the concrete’s absorbency in the active zone (penetration depth after post treatment), but without blocking any pores or capillaries. An alkaline environment like fresh concrete will stimulate this reaction and accelerate formation of hydrophobic layer.Diluted SNY-OTES with suitable solvents is used for formulating various waterproofing products. SNY-OTES is suitable for the hydrophobic treatment of fillers and pigments.
